Summit's Holistic Approach

Summit addresses all four pillars of health and wellness by combining evidence-based clinical & medical interventions with programs that encourage individual spirituality and address the underlying social determinants of health (housing, educational opportunities, sustainable wage employment, etc.)

Biological – Somatic Care

Medication-assisted care can have a huge advantage over abstinence only programs. Medication assisted care is an extremely beneficial component of the healing process. By helping to reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms, you can focus on developing the tools you need to build a solid foundation. At Summit, we view MAT in a much broader definition, because it’s just as important to address other individual health concerns such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and liver disease as part of the treatment plan.

Psychological Care

In conjunction with somatic care, evidence-based counseling therapies will provide you with the emotional resiliency and tools you’ll need to be successful. Summit utilizes a strengths perspective to assist participants in attaining long-term recovery.

Spiritual Care

Faith and spirituality represent the backbone of many people’s lives, and can be a powerful catalyst for change. It’s up to you to decide how to embrace faith and spirituality in your personal recovery process; our role is to encourage and support you in this journey.

Social Determinants of Health

While abstinence and sobriety create a stable foundation for recovery, it’s improved quality of life that sustains our recovery. Our goal at Summit is to identify the barriers to personal growth and work towards enriching the lives of our participants in areas like education, skills development, employment resources, and family reunification. Each participant completes a Family Needs Assessment to evaluate the strengths and challenges of the family and to determine how we can best assist the family in healing and reunifying. We want your family to be an active participant of your care and welcome them to be part of our supportive community.

ORIENTATION & ASSESSMENT

Your first few days will be spent completing clinical assessments, meeting the other members of the community, and learning the rules of the road.

Phase I

SHORT-TERM BLACKOUT

We require our participants to sit still for 7 days. This is not a punishment, rather, a period of time to settle in and acclimate to new surroundings.

Phase II

COMMUNITY LIVING

Group, individual, and family counseling along with employment readiness, barrier removal, and career development in a small therapeutic community.

Phase III

PLAN FOR SUCCESS

After you’ve settled in, we will sit down and design a plan that fits your individual needs, and our team will hold you accountable to that plan.

Phase IV

WRITE IT DOWN

We will provide you with a journal and encourage you to write down your thoughts and feelings . This is a way to reflect on your experiences and serves as a healthy tool for keeping yourself accountable.

Phase V

NEXT STEPS

Ongoing aftercare focusing on personal wellness, family reunification, employment, and housing. Alumni encouraged to remain connected to Summit community.
